You ever finish a book, but get the feeling that you didn’t squeeze all the juice out of it? That’s how I’m feeling with Open Society. There were so many juicy bits from my live readings on Instagram that I decided to make a special event to summarize the book, play a little game, and maybe inject a little bit of my own philosophy. Tomorrow at 3pm CT, I’m hosting something I call “Don’t Know Shit about…” in an attempt to harvest the last drops of Popper’s argument against Marxism.
Having put these events together in the past, I can attest - they’re a fucking hoot. Almost worth the amount of effort I put in. The process of making fun activities brings me so much joy…but the process of getting people to show up absolutely sucks. It’s like when you have to wrangle your family to sit down and play a game together or have dinner: the memories and experience are so cool, but it’s no small feat.
So, I’m asking you to come. You Don’t have to Know Shit about the book or even the topic. You can play or spectate, but I’ve only got 5 slots for players (1 left!). You don’t have to have been reading along with us, but if you have, you might have a leg up on the competition. Just bring a memory-making and fun-having attitude, and let’s do something together. If you’re not a paid subscriber, it’s literally a $6 event. Less than a movie ticket, and way more fun.
