At the end of every month, I try to collect myself and figure out what I did - where my head was… but something always feels off with the process. I always end up feeling accomplished, but when I sit down to write, it always feels like a slap in the face. I'm never prepared for it. I'm never prepared for the end of the day either. I could work forever, so I'm taking a moment here to dive into my writing process. I asked myself:
How do I usually think about my month, and what can I do to improve it?
Of course, I came out with a whole-ass process, and made a worksheet for you to try for yourself. I’m a nerd for a worksheet, and I hope that this makes it feel more cozy and less daunting.
To summarize the process looks like this:
Reflect
Appreciate
Assess
Design
Before you even think about trying this RAAD worksheet (You love cringe shit like this, just embrace it), you need to set some time aside. I'm talking to me, of course. And you. Planning and reflecting are activities we take for granted, but without dedicated writing (thinking) time, you ain’t reflecting on shit. So, the time I’m carving out is at least 2 3 hours. I wrote my initial estimate and then the actual time I spent doing this - of course, I built an entire worksheet, though, too. You can probably do this in as little as a half hour but I'd double it. Test it out, and let me know what you think.
I'll walk you through my process of making this and give you my plan for the month.
