I’m still writing. A lot. It’s the publishing that I have issues with. In the last month, I’ve written a ton:
I wrote a research summary on the neurobiology of political polarization and uncertainty - that was rejected by The Heterodox Academy Blog AFTER revisions and the “go ahead” to write it.
I wrote a piece about rejecting a faculty job offer at a University so that I can spend my time doing ACTUAL academic stuff.
I wrote a short story about a day in the life of a Neoacademic in 2045.
I wrote on several prompts about life in 2045.
All unpublished to date.
The first two items have me in my feelings. After being rejected so many times, I think I’ve really gone back into my shell about publishing, and will certainly not be wasting my time pitching to the HxA blog anymore. I’m sitting on both essays while I finish another project, but I don’t know what to do with them. Writing is always fun, but publishing fucking sucks.
Let me know what you think I should do with the first two essays… pitch the essays to other outlets or should self-publish them here and move the fuck on?
I wrote (and actually published) my first paid listicle on all the rabbit holes I went down in March. If you want to support me (I could use the morale boost more than anything, honestly) please consider upgrading to a paid subscription.
sit on them for a month. you can pitch or not pitch in that time but hold off on self publishing. self publishing might be the right choice in the end (: but you should be sure before you choose <3
If you publish them here, does that mean you can't publish them elsewhere later?
